Usage Policy

While The Art Conspiracy is dedicated to providing artists with an enviroment to show thier works to the world, we also have a responsibility as a public community to uphold a set of rules and guidelines for our content contributors to abide by. Please note that in some cases, if an artist's gallery items are in violation of these policies, it does not necessarily suggest that The Art Conspiracy questions their artistic merit. While these rules unfortunately place a limit on what may be posted to the site (albiet a very small limit), this policy is in place to protect the integrity of The Art Conspiracy as an enjoyable site both for visitors and members alike, as well as protect The Art Conspiracy legally.

Rules of Interaction and Communication

  • The Art Conspiracy will not tolerate racial slurs of any kind.
  • Personal, or private, issues between two or more members are to remain private. The insistence on making such matters public (via rants, the messageboard) will result in closed forum threads and policy warnings.
  • Violations are defined as specific attacks on an individual or group. Violation of community policy will result in a warning, sent privately via e-mail. Administration will take further steps, including banning an account, as the situation deems necessary (multiple ineffective warnings).
  • Accusations of bannable offenses, questions or comments regarding specific administrative actions, and copyright violation reports are always to be addressed to the Webmaster, and not directed at a particular member.

Artistic Intent

The Art Conspiracy reserves the right to delete items that do not adhere to the general purpose of the site. These violations may include:

  • Items that are clearly personal photos, including prom pictures, parties, family portraits, and social gatherings.
  • So-called "webcam" galleries, distinguished by several pictures of the artist posing for a webcam are forbidden.

Identification of these violations falls squarely within the views of the administrators of this site.

Nudity Policy

The Art Conspiracy does recognize nudity as a form of art. The following guidelines shall be used to determine whether an item containing nudity will remain in the artist's gallery (While these rules unfortunately place a limit on what may be posted to the site (albiet a very small limit), this policy is in place to protect the integrity of The Art Conspiracy as an enjoyable site both for visitors and members alike, as well as protect The Art Conspiracy legally):

  1. Does the submission explicitly depict sexual acts?
  2. Is the individual depicted over the age of 18?
  3. Is the item in question done in good taste?
  4. If contained in a written story, is the item in question no more than so-called "literotica", or is it an integral portion of a valid submitted story?
  5. Is the item in question gratuitous, focusing solely on genitalia for the sake of doing so, or is there a larger artistic theme in the picture's subject.
Should the staff deem the work to fail any of these rules, we reserve the right to remove the work without notifying the artist. Determining "good taste" and "gratuitous" falls squarely within the views of the administrators of this site.

Once an item is determined to violate policy, it is immediately removed from the gallery. Notification of its removal will be sent via e-mail. Submitting the same piece again or similar material will result in immediate removal and potentially banishment from the community.

Messageboard Policy

While The Art Conspiracy does allow for all members to speak their minds freely there are certain rules that must be adhered to within the messageboard. Free-speech does not amount to the ability to post anything, and everything, that one would like to say but, rather, allows for a fair and interactive conversation to take place between members without fear of repercussion. In order to allow for this to happen the following rules apply specifically to The Art Conspiracy forums, which are owned, in full, by the administration:
  1. The posting of both postive and negative comments is highly encouraged; however, these posts must remain constructive. Posting a response, or starting a thread without the intention of creating a constructively critical dialogue is strictly forbidden.
  2. Attempts to "sidestep" any Art Conspiracy policy -- which is to be ascertained by the Art Conspiracy staff based on the context of the post or previous posts -- is strictly forbidden.

The failure to follow any of the aforementioned rules will result in the thread being closed and possible administrative actions concerning the member(s) involved, in accordance with the rules described to and agreed to by all members. It is up to the administrator to interpret the intent of each post.

Category Policy

The Art Conspiracy does not condone the submission of items to categories that they do not belong in. For example, a member may not submit concert photography to thier "Physical" Gallery (intended for sculpture and craftwork). Each category is clearly defined in the user's "Edit Gallery" tool. Failure to properly store item(s) will result in the item(s) being removed. Constant disregard for the organization of the site will be viewed as Site Abuse.

Plagiarism

The Art Conspiracy will not tolerate plagiarism. The Art Conspiracy considers the following image theft and plagiarism:
  1. Posting another artist's material found inside the community or outside the community with little or no modification and claiming it as your own.
  2. Posting another artist's material found inside or outside the community, not claiming ownership, but failing to seek the written authorization of the original author for its use.
  3. Posting another artist's lyrics, poetry, or other writing without their written authorization to do so.
If an artist feels that they have been plagiarized, or is aware that another artist has been, please notify staff via webmaster@artconspiracy.com with the following information:
  1. Link to the original work.
  2. Link to the plagiarized work.
  3. Whether this is a constant problem with the accused offender.
  4. If possible, Name of the offender.

Plagiarism is very serious, and handled on a case by case basis. As a general rule, should the offender receive a warning for their first infraction, any continued theft will result in an immediate ban

Broken Items Policy

The Art Conspiracy reserves the right to remove gallery items that are no longer functional, most commonly this includes gallery items that are linked from hosts who either no longer exist, or no longer carry the item in question on its server. This may also include gallery items that are improperly configured.

User Storage Policy

Member's image storage is not to be used to host a personal library of image files, and is to be used strictly for the population of the member's galleries, including biopics, name headers, and the actual gallery items themselves. The Art Conspiracy reserves the right to remove images not used in galleries. It is not recommended that you keep your only copy of image files on The Art Conspiracy's storage.

Sincere Thanks,

John
